Create and send an e-mail campaign
What a campaign needs, every field of the form, testing before you send, sending now or later, the checks Push makes before sending, and who may send.
A campaign sends one e-mail to everyone on one list who agreed to receive marketing. Campaigns are in Push → Email → Campaigns.
What you need first
- a template — the e-mail itself: E-mail templates;
- a sender that is confirmed: Senders;
- a list with people on it: Lists.
If one is missing, the form says Before creating a campaign, you need: with a Create one link for each.
Create the campaign
Click Create Campaign and fill in:
| Field | What to put |
|---|---|
| Campaign Name | For you only — subscribers never see it. |
| Subject Line | What the inbox shows. Short and specific works best. |
| Preview Text | Optional — the grey line after the subject in most inboxes. |
| Email Template | The e-mail. Design Template opens it in the editor. |
| Sender | Who the e-mail comes from. |
| Email List | Who gets it — the number of subscribers is next to each list. Below it, Also send to inactive subscribers: off by default, so people who got five campaigns or more in the last 180 days and opened or clicked none of them are left out — mailbox providers judge you by the people who never open. Tick it to include them. |
| Schedule | Save as Draft (send manually) or Schedule for Later — see Scheduling. |
| A/B Testing | Growth and Scale: A/B tests. |
Click Create Campaign. It opens as a draft — or as scheduled — and nothing is sent yet.
Test before you send
Open the template in the editor and use Test Send: type your address, pick a sender and click Send Test. The subject starts with [Test], and the merge tags carry sample values — friend as the first name (приятелю in a Bulgarian template), your shop's name and address, today's date. Check the content too: Check an e-mail before you send it.
Send
Before you send, the campaign's page says This campaign will go to … people. and who on the list is left out, and why — no consent, unsubscribed or bounced, an invalid or a risky address, inactive. Send Now then asks Send this email campaign now to … people? This action cannot be undone. After OK the campaign is sending, then sent; the message says how many subscribers it went to. Big lists go out in batches over some minutes.
Before the first e-mail leaves, Push checks that:
- the template and the sender are there;
- the sender's domain is verified and the sender is confirmed;
- the template has an unsubscribe link;
- during the free trial, today's e-mails stay within 200.
If a check fails, nothing is sent: the campaign stays a draft and the page says why.
Two things make a campaign wait a few minutes instead, and then go out by itself — the panel before Send Now says so in advance:
- Push is checking … new e-mail domains on this list first. The campaign goes out by itself within a few minutes — there is nothing to do. — the list has addresses on domains Push has not looked up yet (most often right after people were added). The campaign shows as scheduled; Push checks those domains, leaves out the addresses that turn out invalid or risky, and sends.
- An import into this list is still running. Push sends the campaign by itself as soon as the import has finished.
When Push stops a campaign
Push watches every campaign while it goes out. Once 500 of its e-mails have an outcome, if more than 5 % of them bounced because the address does not exist or cannot take mail — or once 1 000 were delivered, if more than 0.1 % of the people marked it as spam — Push stops it: the e-mails not yet sent do not go, the campaign shows Stopped with the reason, and the workspace's owners get an e-mail. A list that bounces this much harms the delivery of every shop on Monfri, your order e-mails included. Remove the addresses that bounced, send only to people who asked for your e-mails, then Duplicate the campaign.
Who can send
Sending — and scheduling — needs the Push permission Can send campaigns. Someone without it can create and edit the campaign, and a person with it sends. See What each person can open: service access.
Edit, duplicate, delete
Drafts and scheduled campaigns can be edited with Edit. A sent, stopped or cancelled campaign cannot change: Duplicate makes a new draft from it. Delete is there for drafts and cancelled campaigns. The list of campaigns can be filtered by status: Draft, Scheduled, Sending, Sent, Cancelled, Stopped.
If something doesn't work
This campaign reached nobody.
Everyone on the list was left out — most often because they were added without marketing consent. The campaign's page says how many were left out and why: Lists.
Push stopped this campaign: …
Too many of its e-mails bounced or were marked as spam — the reason gives the numbers. See When Push stops a campaign above.
Sending domain is not verified. / Sender email address has not been confirmed.
Fix the sender: Senders.
Sending and scheduling need the "Can send campaigns" permission.
Ask someone who has it to send, or a workspace admin to give it to you.
The trial's daily limit
During the free trial a campaign larger than what is left of today's 200 e-mails is refused with the reason, before anything goes out. Send to a smaller list, wait until tomorrow, or choose a plan: Choose a plan.
