Web push subscribers and topics

The list of browsers subscribed to your notifications, their states, a subscriber's page — history, attributes, consent — exporting and deleting, and notification topics.

A web push subscriber is one browser on one device that agreed to your notifications. The same person on a phone and a laptop is two subscribers. They are in Push → Push → Subscribers.

The list

Filter by app (All Apps), state (All States) and platform (All Platforms: web, Android, iOS), or search by external ID. Each row shows its ID, External ID, App, Platform, State and Subscribed.

State Means
active Receives notifications.
inactive Not reachable for now.
unsubscribed Switched notifications off.
expired The browser dropped the subscription — it was reinstalled, cleaned, or not used for a long time.

With one app selected, Export CSV downloads its subscribers.

A subscriber's page

  • Details — the app, platform, browser, OS, time zone, country, when they subscribed and were last seen.
  • Notification History — every notification sent to them, with its campaign (or Transactional), status and any error.
  • Custom Attributes — your own keys and values, usable in segments: + Add attribute, then Save Attributes.
  • Consent Records — when they agreed or withdrew, and from where.
  • Recent Events — events your site sent to Push about them, if any.

Delete removes the subscriber; they get no more notifications until they subscribe again.

When the subscriber is also known in CDP, they are linked, and recipes reach them by name: Web push.

Topics

Topics — part of the Growth and Scale plans — sort your notifications by subject, such as Offers or New arrivals. A campaign can then go only to one topic's subscribers.

In Push → Apps → the site → Notification Topics → Create Topic: a Name, a Slug (made from the name if blank), a Description and Default opt-in.

With the Monfri script, visitors cannot choose topics themselves. So:

  • a topic with Default opt-in includes every subscriber who did not opt out of it;
  • a topic without it includes only those who opted in through a developer's own integration — with the Monfri script, nobody.

If something doesn't work

Fewer subscribers than visitors who allowed

Each browser and device counts once, the same browser does not count twice, and expired subscriptions drop out. A visitor who cleaned the browser subscribes again as a new subscriber.

No subscribers yet

Nobody allowed yet, or the banner does not show: When notifications do not work.
