Web push campaigns and one-off notifications

Writing a notification — title, text, image, icon, link, buttons — choosing who gets it, sending now, later or at each subscriber's local time, A/B tests, the report, and the Send page.

A web push campaign sends one notification to the subscribers of a site, or to a segment of them. Campaigns are in Push → Push → Campaigns; Send is for a single notification to chosen people.

Create a campaign

  1. Create Campaign, choose the App and the audience: Segment — All Subscribers, or one segment (Segments in Push) — and, on Growth and Scale, a Topic: only the subscribers of that topic get it.
  2. Give it a Name (only for you).
  3. Choose Schedule:
    • Save as Draft (send manually) — nothing goes out until you click Send Now on the campaign;
    • Schedule for Later — a date and time in your time;
    • Per Subscriber Timezone (Growth and Scale) — a Send Time in each subscriber's own time zone and a Start Date: 09:00 reaches Sofia at 09:00 Sofia time and London at 09:00 London time.
  4. Write the notification under Notification Content: title, text, image, icon, the link it opens and up to two buttons.
  5. Create Campaign.

Write short: browsers cut a title after about 50 characters and the text after about 120. An image shows large on Chrome and Edge for Windows and Android; Mac shows only the icon.

A/B test

On Growth and Scale, Enable A/B Testing sends up to four versions to a sample — Sample Percentage 10–100 % — for a Test Duration of 1 to 48 hours, then picks the winner by Click Rate or Delivery Rate and sends it to the rest. Each variant has its own content and Weight (%); the weights must add up to 100 %.

Send and report

On the campaign's page, Send Now sends a draft. Cancel stops a scheduled one; Duplicate copies a sent or cancelled one. Sending and scheduling need Can send campaigns.

The page shows Total Sent, Delivered (with the delivery rate), Failed and Clicked (with the click rate), the A/B Variant Comparison, a Notification Preview and the Target Segment. A per-timezone campaign shows Timezone Delivery Progress while it goes out.

A single notification: Send

Push → Send sends one notification right away — to Specific Subscribers (search by ID or external ID) or to a Segment. Use it for a test to your own browser, or a message to a few people. Each one is listed in Transactional push.

If something doesn't work

Nothing was sent after Create Campaign

Save as Draft (send manually) saves a draft. Open the campaign and click Send Now.

Delivered is lower than Sent

Some browsers dropped their subscription — reinstalled, cleaned, offline for long. Those subscribers turn expired and stop counting.

Sending and scheduling need the "Can send campaigns" permission

Ask someone with it to send, or a workspace admin to give it to you.
