Telegram: the same bot in Telegram

Connect the bot to a Telegram bot you create with BotFather — what works there, how your team answers Telegram conversations, and how to disconnect.

The same bot can answer in Telegram: with the same knowledge, menus and store lookups, and with your team taking over in Чатове (Chats).

Before you start

  • A Telegram account, and the role Администратор (Administrator) in Assistant.
  • The bot's Статус (Status) is активен (active). A demo bot never answers in Telegram.

Connect

  1. In Telegram, open @BotFather and send /newbot. Give the bot a name and a username ending in bot. BotFather replies with a token.
  2. In Assistant, open the bot. In the card Канали (Channels), paste the token into Telegram bot token (от @BotFather) and press Свържи (Connect).
  3. The card shows Telegram · @username and свързан (connected). Write to your bot in Telegram to try it.

One Telegram bot per Assistant bot: connecting another token replaces the first.

What works in Telegram

  • The first message of every new conversation says it is an AI: 🤖 Разговаряте с AI асистент. При нужда ще ви свържа с човек. (You are chatting with an AI assistant. I can connect you to a person if you need one.)
  • AI answers from the bot's knowledge, order lookups, product searches, the e-mail code and requests about orders work as on your site.
  • Menus have no buttons: the options come as lines of text, and the visitor types one. меню (menu) brings the menu back; човек (a person) hands over.
  • No cards, no rating and no invitations — Telegram shows text only. The bot answers text messages; photos and stickers are ignored.

Your team

Telegram conversations appear in Чатове with the channel telegram. A handover goes through your assignment rules, which can match Канал (Channel) telegram: Assignment rules and SLA. Your replies go to the visitor in Telegram, and Приключи (Close) tells them the conversation was closed. The e-mail to a visitor who left is not needed here — Telegram delivers the reply.

Disconnect

The bin next to Telegram · @username disconnects it. The Telegram bot stops getting answers; delete it in @BotFather if you no longer need it.

If something doesn't work

Telegram не приема този токен — копирайте го наново от @BotFather.

(Telegram does not accept this token.) Copy the whole token again from @BotFather — /mybots → your bot → API Token.

(Telegram refused the connection.) Telegram's own reason follows. Try again in a minute.

The bot does not answer in Telegram

The bot is not активен, it is a demo bot, or Assistant is stopped for the workspace — the bar at the top of Assistant says so.
