Import, export, versions, saved blocks and images in the e-mail editor
Bringing in an e-mail from HTML, a link or a file, exporting a template, going back to an earlier version, reusing saved blocks, and managing your images.
These tools are in the editor's top bar — More ▾ and Versions — and in its left panel, under Saved.
Import an e-mail
More ▾ → Import opens Import Template with three tabs:
- Paste HTML — paste the HTML of an e-mail and click Import HTML;
- From URL — a link to an HTML e-mail; The HTML will be fetched and converted to blocks; click Import from URL;
- Import JSON — Upload a template JSON file exported from this editor, then Import JSON.
Imported HTML is turned into blocks as well as possible. A simple e-mail comes in clean; a complicated one may land partly in HTML blocks — check it in Preview before you send.
Export
More ▾ → Export JSON downloads the template to import into another workspace; Export HTML downloads the finished e-mail. View MJML shows the source the e-mail is built from, for developers.
Versions
Each click on Save keeps a version of the template as it was before. Versions lists them — v1, v2… with the date and the subject. Restore brings one back; Rename gives it a name, for example Before the redesign. The latest 50 are kept.
The automatic saving while you work does not make versions: click Save before a big change if you may want to go back.
Saved blocks
Right-click a block → Save to Library keeps it, with its settings, for reuse. In the left panel, Saved lists your saved blocks — search them, click one to add it to the template, × to delete it. Good for a header, a footer or a signature you use everywhere.
Images
Choosing an image in a block opens Image Browser:
- Upload — JPEG, PNG, GIF or WEBP, up to 5 MB each. Every file is checked for viruses.
- Import from URL... — copies a picture from a link into your library.
- + Folder — sort images into folders; sort by Newest or Name.
- Click an image to use it, × to delete it.
Images are served from Monfri, so they show in every inbox. Use small files — a picture of 100–300 KB loads fast on a phone.
If something doesn't work
The imported e-mail looks broken
Some HTML cannot become blocks. Start from a ready-made template instead, or keep the imported part in an HTML block and test it with Test Send.
An image does not upload
It is larger than 5 MB or not one of the four types. Resize it or save it as JPEG or PNG.
Restore did not bring back what I expected
Versions are kept only on Save, not on automatic saving. Pick the version by its date; restoring keeps the current state as a new version, so you can go back again.
