Brands: mentions, readers and a report for the advertiser
Track the brands your news site writes about — their articles, readers, sources and interests, PR against editorial, target audiences, and a shareable report for the advertiser.
Analytics → Brands connects two things CDP already knows on a news site: which brands each article mentions, and who reads each article. The result: for any brand, its articles, their readers, and a report you can send to the advertiser.
Add a brand
- Open Analytics → Brands and add a brand.
- Type the Brand name, for example
Lidl. Spellings found in the articles shows how your articles spell it — Lidl, Лидл, Лидл България… Tick the ones that are this brand under Matched spellings, and add a spelling by hand if one is missing. - Under Excluded look-alikes, mark names that are not the brand — for example a cycling team that carries its name.
- Also match the name in headlines, if you want headlines to count too.
- Choose the Category and the Sensitivity: Normal; Regulated — gambling, alcohol, tobacco (reported, flagged); or Sensitive — health, politics, religion (never an audience).
New articles are matched as they are analysed, and past articles are found too, as far back as your site's articles were analysed.
A brand's page
At the top, choose the period and which articles: All mentions, PR articles only or Editorial only.
| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Overview | The headline numbers: articles, readers, counted views, attention, read to the end. |
| Articles | Every article that mentions the brand, with its readers. |
| Audience | Who reads them: device, city, loyalty. |
| Target audiences | Groups of readers you can define and measure — see below. |
| Sources | Where the readers came from: your front page, Google, Discover, social. |
| Interests | What else these readers read, against your site's average. |
| Competitors | The brand's share of voice: your articles against the followed competitor sites. |
| PR campaign | Chosen PR articles as one campaign, each against the site's other PR articles. |
| Data quality | What the numbers include and leave out. |
How readers and views are counted
- Readers are different browsers — never a sum per article, so a reader of three articles counts once.
- Counted views count at most three views per browser, article and day; a browser that reloads a page hundreds of times would otherwise inflate a PR report many times over.
- PR articles are the ones your site marks as paid. Set how in PR settings: the article address contains a part such as
/pr-zone/, or the article is in a category. Optionally Also count press releases recognised by AI for a site without such markers.
Target audiences
A target audience is a definition and its size — never a list of people. For example: Read at least 2 articles that mention the brand in the last 30 days — or only of its PR articles, or of its editorial articles. As you change it, Monfri shows how many browsers match, how many on a phone and how many were seen in the last 7 days. Name it under Save this definition as and click Save audience; Measure again refreshes a saved one. Sensitive brands cannot have target audiences.
The report for the advertiser
Links to this brand creates a link to a report page for the advertiser, in Bulgarian, ready to print or save as PDF.
- Name the link — for your list only; the advertiser does not see it.
- Choose the sections — the headline numbers are always included — and when it Expires after.
- Create it and Copy this now — it cannot be shown again. Only a fingerprint of it is stored.
The list shows when each link was Last opened. Delete stops the page at once. Numbers based on fewer than 50 browsers are not shown on the report, so no single reader can be recognised.
If something doesn't work
A brand has articles that are not about it
A look-alike name matched — a person, a team, a place. Add it under Excluded look-alikes.
The PR tab is empty
Your PR markers are not set or do not match. Open PR settings and check the address part or the category against a real PR article.
The report link does not open
It expired or was deleted. Create a new one and send it again.
